How long does epoxy flooring last?
Lifespan comes down to two things more than any other factor: how the concrete was prepared and how thick the coating was built up for the job. Get both right and a properly installed epoxy floor will run 10 to 20 years under normal residential or commercial use. Skip the grinding stage, or apply a coating too thin for the traffic it carries, and even a quality resin can lift or wear through within a year. What's the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic flooring?
Both are resin systems applied over prepared concrete, but they behave differently once cured. Epoxy takes longer to cure, often a full day between coats, which gives it more build thickness and stronger impact resistance. That suits garages, workshops, and showroom floors that live indoors. Polyaspartic cures in hours rather than days and holds its colour under constant UV exposure, so it’s the system we reach for on driveways, alfrescos, and pool surrounds sitting in direct Perth sun most of the day. How long does an epoxy floor installation take?

Can epoxy go over old or cracked concrete?

Less than most people expect. Regular sweeping to keep grit from scratching the surface, plus an occasional mop with warm water and a mild detergent, is enough for most floors. Avoid ammonia-based or highly acidic cleaners, which dull the topcoat with repeated use, and deal with oil, fuel, or chemical spills as they happen rather than leaving them to sit.
